Energy

Selections from more than 15 years of reporting on energy, charting lower carbon technologies -- and the entrenched interests that oppose them

HOT STUFF

The Alberta oil/tar sands' environmental notoriety took down the Keystone XL pipeline but my November 2011 feature for Technology Review shows how the industry could clean up its act -- including its outsized carbon emissions. That story prompted several radio appearances -- including a January interview for BBC/PRI coproduction The World on a second bitumen pipeline that's stirring controversy in Canada. Not to mention plenty of commentary, such as this saucily titled Forbes review. Unconventional gas is also on my radar, with a January piece on earthquakes induced by hydraulic fracturing and the U.K. firm that's moving beyond denial to prevent seismic shakes.
